Review: Kids From Nowhere (George Guthridge) (original post 8/24/09)

Last night I finished Kids From Nowhere by George Guthridge and I REALLY liked it. It is the true story of a teacher who moves to a tiny island in Alaska and transforms the educational lives of his students (and himself). Very inspiring, moving, and interesting. Even though it's about a teacher and has a lot of description about the educational process that he comes up with to teach these students, I think students will enjoy this book. It could easily be made into one of those inspiring/feel good movies about underdogs who beat the system and do extraordinary things!

Genre: Non-fiction/education/Alaska
Rating: 5 out of 5
